Stress is an inevitable part of life. At some point in our lives, we’ll all be exposed to different stressors at home or at work.
Unfortunately, that’s out of our control.
However, we can control how we react to stress.
We’re all familiar with a lot of common stress relief techniques including deep breathing, yoga, journaling.
But, if stress hits while you’re out of the house or at a time you can’t do yoga, it’s important to keep an emergency stress relief kit on hand.
What Should Be In Your Stress Relief Emergency Kit
A stress relief kit is a collection of things that you keep with you to help you cam down at any moment.
You never know when stress may occur, so these items will help you feel calm and happy no matter where you are.
The next time stress hits, grab your emergency stress relief kit and calm down quickly.
Herbal teas including peppermint, lavender, and chamomile have been shown to help reduce stress and anxiety (Source: National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health).
In addition to reducing stress, herbal tea also provides other benefits including reducing upset stomach, nausea, and improve headaches.

This tea is a combination of honey, lavender, and other herbs which are soothing and calming.
Keep a few bags of tea in your stress relief kit to help you calm down quickly.
Journaling is another excellent way to reduce stress. Keep a small journal on hand whenever you feel overwhelmed.
You can use this to write what’s on your mind, draw, or free-write anything.
Sometimes the act of putting your thoughts on paper is enough to help you calm down quickly.

Essential oils are another quick fix for high-stress levels.

Physically allow the stress to leave your body with a stress ball. When you’re overwhelmed, squeeze your stress ball tightly and watch the stress instantly leave your body.
When we’re stressed, all of our muscles become tight and our bodies are physically tense. A stress ball is a perfect way to reduce this tension and relax both your body and mind.
If you ask me, dark chocolate is always a good answer to any situation. Dark chocolate has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety when eaten in moderation.
I don’t recommend stress eating which is consuming 100’s of calories at once to make you feel better. Instead, keep some dark chocolate on hand and grab a square when you’re feeling stressed.
Prepare Your Stress Relief Kit
Keep all of the items of your stress relief kit in an accessible location and you’ll be ready the next time stress occurs.
You can throw all of the items in your purse, or find a cute bag to keep them all together.
Make sure to do all you can to manage your stress on a daily basis so you can continue to live a healthy and happy life.
If you find your stress level is out of control or your stress management techniques aren’t working, then don’t be afraid to speak with a healthcare provider about some other options.
