Protein powders are a must-have for a clean eating plant-based diet. They are one of the easiest ways to enjoy a quick high protein snack and to help you lose weight.

However, not all protein powders are healthy or clean. To help you find the healthiest options, I created this list of the best clean eating protein powders.

You can eat healthy and lose weight without harmful ingredients.

Are Protein Shakes Bad for You?

Although protein shakes can help you lose weight, not all of them are created equally.

A lot of protein powders are loaded with sugar, processed ingredients, and unwanted calories.

Some protein powders contain up to 25 grams of sugar per serving! If you add this to milk, you’ll be consuming more than a daily recommended amount of sugar in one drink.

Also, there is such a thing as too much protein.

If you’re a regular meat-eater, your body may not need the extra 20-40 grams of protein found in a typical protein shake.

This excess protein can damage your kidneys, lead to osteoporosis, nausea, and bloating (Health.Harvard).

Additionally, recent studies found that many protein powders contain toxins including lead, BPA, and pesticides.

Clean Eating Protein Powders

Before you run away from protein powders forever, there are some trusted sources that make clean and safe protein powders.

This list of top clean eating protein powders includes only protein powders I personally have tried and researched.

Every clean eating protein powder on this list is USDA Organic, low in added sugars, and contains around 20-25 grams of protein per serving.

You can confidently drink these powders as a meal replacement or a healthy snack.

Mix them with fruit and plant-based milk for a quick smoothie or you can add them to oatmeal, baked goods, or even coffee for a high protein snack.

Whether you’re vegan or trying to eat less meat, protein powders are an excellent source of protein.
